 Gangaur Festival:

Gauri Tritiya, popularly Called Gangaur, is celebrated extensively in Areas of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Gangaur Puja is devoted to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and can be a Hindu festival that observes marital joy. 

'Gana' signifies Shiva and'Gaur' signifies Parvati and also this divine couple is worshipped by all of the womenfolk on this particular day for extended life of the husbands.  This day is also referred to as Saubhagya Teej. 

This Festival is celebrated from the women folk since the festival of Goddess Gauri.

Significance of Gangaur

In Hindu culture, the significance of Teej is immense.  It's a day which celebrates the union and enjoy between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.  It's thought that just after months and days of separation failed Goddess Parvati reunited with Lord Shiva.Married ladies perform Gauri Puja and beg to their husband's extended life and marital joy whereas unmarried ladies beg to Goddess Parvati to get a perfect life partner.  Devotees who observe and watch Gauri Teej are reported to be blessed with joy, longevity and prosperity. 

Rituals of Gangaur Festival

The festival begins on the first day of Chaitra, the afternoon alongside Holi festival.  In the afternoon of Gangaur festival, the girls fast for 18 days to finish the ritual.  In that 18-day period, girls eat only once every day.  The festival finishes on the next day of Shukla Paksha. 

How Gangaur Festival Celebrated?
